GameTech/FVWC Winners Showcased on Unity Blog

Davey Jackson of Unity, who we had the pleasure of meeting at GameTech last month, has just posted about the 2012 Federal Virtual Worlds Challenge. Unity projects took home a combined $41,000 in prizes, including yours truly with a second place finish in the Holodeck category. The $700M Game, or Why Video Games Rule the Entertainment World

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was released two weeks ago, to the tune of $775M in sales in the first 5 days. Let that sink in for a minute. Modern Warfare 3 is now the highest grossing game release of all time, smashing the previous record of $650M by a game in the same series, Call of Duty: Black Ops. In fact, Modern Warfare 3 is now the highest grossing entertainment release of all time. Comparing CryEngine and Unreal (and Unity too)

In the last post, I took a look at the free non-commercial and commercial-royalty licenses for CryEngine’s SDK and Epic Games’ UDK.
